HISTORY: Here.
PERSONALITY:

Klaus Mikaelson is not a creature that can be described succinctly. His story fills an entire textbook at the Salvatore School. But, in breaking parts down, it's easier to separate, in order to round back to the bigger picture of just who he is.

When most are asked, Klaus Mikaelson is a savage monster with zero chill. He's introduced into The Vampire Diaries as the world's oldest vampire in need of a giant sacrifice, one he will obtain by any means necessary. What follows is a nuanced exploration of how a monster is made, and yes, even redeemed.

Klaus is a very motivated individual. At any one time, he could be driven to obtain something, such as the cure for vampirism, or, to track someone down in order to, likely, kill them. His motivations very but in them, he never falters. He is very determined. He hunts Katerina Petrova for hundreds of years, all the while maintaining a life on the run, himself, and after that, living whatever life he wished to. When he's motivated, he is ruthless, only ceasing when he can no longer function be it because he has been captured/dessicated/taken out of commission. When motivated, he is a man of many plans, preferring to have not just a plan A, but plans B, and C. This is shown when he makes sure he has a vampire and a werewolf for his big sacrifice in order to break the sun and moon curse.

A larger motivation that comes to light is a need to protect his family. The majority of The Originals revolves around Klaus' family and the lengths they will all go to to protect one another, including Klaus, them. This is exponentially increased when he has a daughter, a cosmic loop hole miracle tribrid he will give (and does give) his life for. At any given time, he can be motivated to be doing any three or four things, but he never keeps his eye off the ball. He will push to the very last minute until all hope is lost. Sadly, Klaus will also betray everyone he loves if he believes it's for the greater good. At the end of the second season, Klaus savages his relationships, curses Hayley and her husband, and kidnaps his own daughter, all because he needed his aunt Dahlia to believe he was on her side. All the while, he knew what he was doing and passes a message to Cami when he bites her. In his eyes, it's his plans that are the best, that he can trust.

Through his evolution, his largest motivation is the survival of his family, hands down. There is no other motivation that matters, especially when it clashes with his and his family's best interest.

It's laughable to say that Klaus is a principled person. But, he does have his own code of conduct. For one, if one does not betray him, and if something benefits him than he upholds his end of the bargain a majority of the time. Sure, he will still betray them, but that's for his own ends. Unfortunately, all principles go to the way side when his family could be in danger. His brother Elijah is the man of honor, but Klaus does keep his word, especially the further into canon we get. If they could be defined, his principles would be boiled down to, whichever principles that needed upholding in the moment. Certain individuals earn better principles and treatment.

By the end of his canon, he has reached a point where he will not betray family, he will sacrifice himself before he's made to. That is his largest principle. He's not about to needlessly shed blood. There was a time in his life when he didn't care. It didn't matter. He rather enjoyed the kill. But, life complicates. And even monsters evolve. He doesn't relish when he goes against his word, but when he deems it necessary, he does. It's as simple as that.

The principle that comes to define both him and his family is the idea of "Always & Forever." In short, he, Elijah, and Rebekah (and at times, Kol, Hayley) - essentially, the Mikaelson's will be there for one another until the end of their family. This has translated different over the years. Klaus had no problem staggering his siblings when he felt he knew what was best, or he needed to punish them. When daggered, his siblings would desiccate in coffins until those daggers were pulled out. He's come to a place where he accepts and is more than grateful for the family he's finally let himself embrace.

Klaus is a man of repetitive behaviors. History repeats itself for over a thousand years. These behaviors are built on a childhood of abuse, lies, and violence. As a child, Klaus never felt like he belonged in his family, having never been strong enough to earn his father Mikael's respect. After being turned and discovering his mother had had an affair, he learns he is not his father's son and that only further drives a wedge between him and Mikael. Mikael also slaughters Esther's lover and his village, including Klaus' real father. After Klaus and his siblings flee, they take to going on the run from their father, now a self proclaimed vampire who hunts vampires.

Because of the life they lead, the bodies that piles up and people he betrays, Klaus grows more and more paranoid. He lives in a state of perpetual worry that someone is going to betray him, including those closest to him. Often enough, they do, in a poetic bit of self fulfilling prophecy. This is depicted by his turning on a dime and ending friendships on a dime. Largely, usually by killing the other party.

He is a petulant, angry, insecure child for most of The Vampire Diaries and some of The Originals. He is forever Mikael's son, except, because of his hybrid-status he is also more than Mikael's son could ever be. He lives in a perpetual state of superiority, often coming off as elitist, preferring the finer things. Because he is used to getting what he wants, mostly from compulsion, he expects to. Because he is immortal, he also grows patient regarding his long-cons. One such con is the fake sun and moon curse he planted, that finally surfaces and comes to fruition over a thousand years after the fact. But, when it comes to the here and now, he can be very impatient. Often, he won't hesitate to threaten or put someone's loved ones in harm's way in order to get what he wants, or to make them do what he wants. Often he also believes he's the smartest in the room, always the strategist. When his plan isn't the one chosen, he will impetuously make it so that his own plan is the one that is executed, or the one that works. Because of this (mostly strategic) paranoia, often times he keeps his plans to himself. And often times, he ends up alone. He is also a big believer in revenge.

Trust does not come easy to Klaus, both because of his intense paranoia, but because of what he's lived through. He learns of deep seeded deception on his mother's part. One of the reasons he is so weak as a child, is that Esther spells a starling necklace she gives him, so that he will not have the strength to kill someone, and her secret affair will not be found out. People lie, they betray, it's in their nature. But he takes it no better despite knowing and ultimately assuming it will happen.

Klaus is a man of perspective. He sees things from all sides. He prefers to know where everyone falls on the table. He is a master at Chess and even when not playing is setting up his pawns anew. It's a default state. Only when he finds the alternatives hopeless does he accept loss.

Klaus does have softer sides. He is an artist at heart and depending on who you ask, a celebrated one. (He tends to compel his way into having an art exhibit, especially when on the outs for his family.) He does prefer the finer things but understands what it's like to live with nothing. He is incredibly charming by design. He has that allure of darkness and most see even a spark of humanity in him. He is also very romantic when he wants to be. Persistently so.

But, the truth is, Klaus feels deeply. He sinks those feelings into his paintings, or his actions, or his drink (be it blood of human.) He is capable of compassion and love when he cares for someone, though he tends to avoid and run when it comes to real feelings. He has a true fear that everything he touches turns to dust. Family and enemies have said as much to him. It takes Klaus three years to admit his feelings and give into his desire for Camille, a local bartender and confidant. And, when she died she pushes him away. All the while, he still worries and watches out for her. Even when she betrays him for her own ends, while devastated, he understands. When Cami dies the second time (for good), he brings her into a scenic New Orleans day. It takes thousands of years, but Klaus is also capable of saying the words 'thank you,' despite that not being an easy sentiment to admit.

Klaus is also fully capable of forgiveness. After pushing someone through the gauntlet of his torment, Klaus will come out the other side and see someone as an equal if they earn it. Klaus even welcomes Elijah back after the ultimate betrayal and the death of Hayley, the mother of his child. This is not without turmoil and renouncing Elijah as a brother, but he rounds back to forgiveness.

It is said that a man's character is his fate and Klaus has always been the definition of a self fulfilling prophecy. But, with his final actions, he's proven that he can truly be a selfless person, and that he can be redeemed. He is nothing if not a man who learns, who fights progress before begrudgingly accepting it. He is a man who, every step of the way, he goes out of his way to make sure the people he loves are safe, even to his own detriment. Klaus is not an enemy you would ever want, but he's one of the greatest allies you may ever have. And then possibly an enemy, and an ally a month later. Or a hundred years later. He is a fickle, broken man. But, this fickle, broken man found his family. Klaus Mikaelson, the Original hybrid, knows love.

CRAU: N/A

SPECIES: Vampire-Werewolf Hybrid
APPEARANCE: One. Two. Three.
SKILLS:

Being part vampire and werewolf means he has enhanced reflexes, strength and speed. His senses are amplified, including hearing and he feels things deeply. He also needs to live on blood. AKA vampire.

Being part werewolf only comes with the option of transforming into a werewolf.

*I know Hope's transformations have been nerfed, and I expect as much for Klaus. Please nerf WHATEVER you deem necessary.

Klaus is a gifted artist. He both paints and draws. He's spoken of mixing his own paints from before they were goods able to be traded. He can do abstracts and landscapes as well as character drawing and illustrating. He's also a gifted whittler, having carved a knight to calm his sister Rebekah down during a storm. He can also be very charming. With bridges he hasn't burn come with them a network of helpers and allies. He successfully spread a rumor about a fake curse, just so he could break his own and for this he waited over a thousand years. The number of these allies have dwindled greatly. He's also very skilled at making enemies. It comes with the territory. He's one of the world's oldest vampires which means he brings with him knowledge of centuries of history and personal relationships with various historical characters. He is well versed in lore and how the supernatural world works in his time. He is also familiar with other languages and fluent in Bulgarian.

NEW POWER:

*so, I actually have two different ideas and I am completely open to a collaboration and any other better ideas as well.

PAIN/INJURY TRANSFERRENCE;
When someone Klaus considers himself to be close to has any pain inflicted on them, he will endure that pain or that injury.

FIND MY FRIENDS;
Inherently, Klaus will be able to know where those he is close to are, simply by thinking of them.

POWER REASONING: Klaus has reached a point in his life where he will gladly take any pain away from those he cares about. He literally took Hope's pain and suffering and sacrificed himself after. Saving them the time to get away, or make the killing blow is something Klaus would want to be able to do, especially when nerfed in game.

As for the latter, Klaus always keeps tabs on those he trusts and those he doesn't. This is a way he can sleep sounder and/or be that much more creepy with his usual stalking. Especially, when he doesn't have a witch and their locator spell to rely on.
