I read about something called a VR Bar. I assume they mean virtual reality. I'm sure someone of your time might be interested in such a sight. We could drink as if we were on a beach in the Bahamas. Or, along the Seine. Does that suit your interests?
( Fella. How quaint. It is funny how past a 'fella' Klaus is.
In fifteen minutes, Klaus arrives outside the venue, questioning whether he wants to scope it out before Eugene arrives or to experience it firsthand with his friend. He decides the latter, posting up outside and pulling up his neural network. He checks in on Timothy's cool talk. Lunch meat. Heathen. And a few other news clippings. Can he call them clippings if they're in his mind.
( gene ain't much behind him, truth be told. his mama raised him to be a punctual man, an' he's carried that with him the whole of his life. he'd joke some about how the 82nd was so determined to be punctual that they jumped early at normandy.
he falls in beside klaus, bumping his shoulder in a companionable greetin'. )
( Klaus has dulled senses or he'd have heard and smelled Gene coming. As it is, the nudge is not unwelcome but it is slightly startling. He tries masking the small jolt his upper body does as he pushes his shoulder back into Gene in kind. )
( he ain't so imperceptive as to miss it. you spend enough time lookin' after folks on the front lines an' you learn to gauge reactions. medic's word is the word of god out on the field, an' he made a point of knowin' who needed to be pulled back from the front. klaus' reaction ain't quite in line with how the fella presents himself, but gene just makes a mental note an' don't dwell on it in the here an' now. )
Not a word of complaint, pal. Amazin' how easy it gets findin' your way when you've got a nav system in your head.
( he holds off on sayin' it'd have been a big help in gela, but. you know, the thought's there. )
( yes, gene. it's best not to dwell on these things until the subtext becomes text. klaus has always been a creature of, don't mention it until he does. please and thank you. )
You're right. I suppose it's more of a colloquialism I'm used to asking in polite company. Here. Now. It does seem to be quite a pointless question. Let's.
( He leads the way, tilting his head and then stepping forth over the threshold into what feels like a blacklight frat party with neon lights lining the walls, lighting the edges and bottoms of the bars, too. big screens denote whatever trek or adventure a certain grouping is encountering while drinking. There's an electronic notice that appears, 'Wait to be seated' when they go in far enough. )
This is something. ( He raises his voice close to Gene's ear, waiting patiently for a host or hostess. )
